July 4th Celebration

2021 Event Update:

Due to current recommendations regarding large-scale public gatherings, the annual Carrboro July 4th Celebration will be presented in a virtual/socially-distant format again this year.  Please continue to check this website for updates.

For 2021, Mayor Lydia Lavelle will host our annual gathering of community members for the annual Community Reading of Frederick Douglass' essay, "The Meaning of the Fourth of July for the Negro."

We are currently working on logistics to hold the reading outdoors at Town Commons.  The community reading will also available on our YouTube Channel

Please continue to check back for updates on other activities.
